“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:
Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers. Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king.
David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah. ” Matt. 1:1 – 6.
Perez was the son of Judah and Tamar. Tamar was the daughter – in –law of Judah. That is Incest. A grave sin in the sight of God.
Righteous Boaz was the son of Rahab, who was an ex-prostitute. And Boaz was the great great grandfather of king David, the person God called a man after His own heart.
Solomon, whom God named Jedidiah, meaning, the beloved of the Lord (even before his birth) was the son of Bathsheba, who had been Uriah’s wife, one of David’s mighty men of war and murdered on David’s order.
The circumstances which surrounded the births of all these men – men greatly loved by God – were questionable. Yet God made them part of Christ’s lineage according to the flesh. They were Christ’s earthly fore-parents.
The circustances surrounding your birth should not rob you of your destiny. Perez, Boaz, Solomon, may have been called names by a few people when growing up, but they became famous people loved by God. God still picked and included them in the ancestry of His son.The circumstances of their birth did not prevent God from including them in His Messianic plans.
No one is responsible for the circumstances of his or her birth. No one had any decision in his/ her parentage and ancestry. And God does not hold anything against anyone corcerning the cumstances of their birth. Incest, adultery, rape? A child is blameless before God irrespective of his/ her birth story. Men may ridicule, but God never does.
One of Englands greatest kings was a man popularly referred to as William the bastard, who became known as William the conqueror. This so called bastard became one of the greatest Kings to rule England.
Lift up your head! Arise and shine, for the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. Let no one despise you. God’s hands are stretched out to you. Put your hands into the hands of the Almighty God and walk with Him.
The poorest of the poor? The lowest of the low? The outcast among the people? The chief among sinners? I don’t know under what circumstances you were conceived and born, or what your ancestry or lineage is, or even what kind of life you ‘ve lived. This l know, that heaven’s register is filled with the names of people such as these – prostitutes, thieves, drug addicts/barons, paupers, homosexuals, adulteresses, murderers etc. (Matt. 21:31, 1 Cor. 6:9 – 13).
God, only through the shed blood of His Son can take the vilest sinner and make him or her a saint! (Matt.21:31, 2 Timothy 1:15, Luke 23: 43). He makes them clean by washing them with the precious blood of His beloved and only begotten Son shed on Calvary’s tree..
God wants to include you in the lineage of His son. If you are not yet His, He is waiting for you. Come to Him today in true repentance, believe and put your trust in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as your Saviour and Lord so that your sins may be forgiven.
