“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” Jer.29:13
To seek God’s face means to draw near to Him diligently, consistently, perseveringly and longingly. It means to long to know Him – His person, His character, His nature, His ways, His heart, His thoughts etc.
This is possible when you spend time with Him in prayer, in His word and also in fellowship with His people. Seeking God’s face is something you do intentionally, wholeheartedly and consistently.
God wants His people to seek Him. God is not lost; we are the ones who were (are) lost and in danger of missing our way. We can forget Him, ignore Him, and neglect Him, that is, to become unmindful of Him, as we pursue our own agenda in life and as we go about our day to day living, with all the busyness and hectic daily living.
Even though He is always near us, God loves to be pursued and sought for by His children.
” Am I a God near at hand,” says the LORD, “And not a God afar off?” (Jeremiah 23:23).
When our daily life is that of pursuit of Him and seeking Him we cannot be lost, neither will we become unmindful of Him. For this reason God tells us severally in the Scriptures to seek Him always.
Brethren when we seek God diligently, and consistently He will reward us.
He will reward us:
By drawing closer to us.
By making Himself known to us more intimately.
He told Abraham, “Fear not, Abraham, I am your shield and your exceeding great reward.”(Gen. 15:1).
Hebrews 11:6 also tells us: “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
