Many know a God of love
God of mercy,
God of grace,
Patience and long suffering.
Which is true, but that’s only the partial truth and half-truth is equally as dangerous as absolute lies.
The same Bible which says God is love and talks about His kindness also talks about His severity (Romans 11:22). The Bible tells us that God not only hates sin but that He is angry with the wicked and evil doers every day (Psalms.7:11). Yes, He will forgive them if they repent, but as long as they harden their hearts and refuse to repent His soul hates them and they remain under his wrath(Psalm 5:4-6, 11:5). God’s grace may delay judgement so that sinners can repent, but His grace for sinners and the wicked does not last forever.
He is a God of judgement and vengeance (Deut. 32:35, Psalm 94:1, Heb.10:30). He will not only judge the wicked on the day of judgement, but even now he judges and punishes the wicked if they refuse to repent. He is patient and long-suffering but also a God of justice and a just Judge.
God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29). Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? Remember Him destroying the whole world and sparing only eight righteous people? The priests: Nadab and Abihu? In the New Testament: Ananias and Sapphira? The book of Revelation tells us that He is going to pour down his full wrath on the earth again, and this time with fire. Hebrews 10:31 says that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
My aim is not to scare you by showing you the fearful side of God, but to let you know the true and living God. And if through this article you begin to have the reverential fear of God (Hebrews 12:28), praise be to His holy name!
Many don’t really know God as they claim or think they do. They can be arrogant, mean, self centred, immoral and still believe God is okay with them. They erroneously have a concept of the God of their own making, or a God preached and presented by people who do not know God themselves and have made for themselves a god who is the figment of their own imagination.

In the Bible you see the true God revealed. Begin to walk with Him in the light of the revealed truth of the Bible. God will point you to His son Jesus Christ, His sacrificial lamb for your sin. The Holy Spirit will reveal Jesus, the Redeemer, to You. In the Scriptures you not only see Him as He is, you will also learn how to walk with Him – the only true and living God.
